Welcome Of Gothic Group!
Gothic:
General term for a style of architecture and ornament prevalent between the twelfth
and sixteenth centuries, considered old-fashioned in the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, characterized by pointed arches, ribbed vaulting, and flying buttresses, and by grotesque decorations; when it came back into fashion in the mid-1700s, it was celebrated as a symbol of British patriotism. This style is from the medieval period and has been revived many times in different variations,
but can be seen most apparently in churches. Gothic style is most distinct for the
steep roofs and the entire design of vertical achievement.
Another common feature used in Gothic architecture is the Gothic arch.
Other elements regularly in Gothic style to enhance verticality were towers,
steeples and pinnacles.
In the late 18th century aspects of the style were used for interiors and known as 'Gothick', along with rococo and chinoiserie, but in a romantic, frivolous way with no real historical basis. The Victorians revived the style again in the mid-19th century but this time it was a reaction against classical style and its symmetry. It was also historically accurate. The style began principally in churches and public buildings but by the 1860s it influenced even domestic interiors. The style was:
ecclesiastical details - pointed arches, ogee arches, stained glass
 red and blue, gold
 'tracery' - decorative ribbing
heraldic emblems - coats of arms, mythical beasts and the tree of life
'cusping' - decorative projections of heads, gargoyles, animals or leaves
Influences
medieval ecclesiastical architecture - churches and cathedrals
 illustrated medieval manuscripts
arts and crafts movement - return to medieval style and practices
The names
AWN Pugin - leader of Gothic revival, he designed interiors and the exterior detailing of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben's clock tower (the Houses themselves were designed by Sir Charles Barry)
George Gilbert Scott - architect of The Albert Memorial, Midland Grand Hotel at St Pancras station, London
William Burges - architect of Cardiff Castle
Herbert Minton - a potter who collaborated with Pugin on tiles
Also gothic is used as a genre of fiction usually involving gloomy or isolated settings; dreary, spooky old houses or castles; mysterious, bizarre, or macabre -- possibly supernatural -- occurrences; and secretive, suspicious characters. A subgenre is Southern gothic usually centering on a moldering Ante Bellum mansion and featuring unexorcised evils of slavery, the Civil War, or racism, actual or suggested incest or other sexual aberration, insanity, and often an elderly Afro-American woman who is the embodiment of long-suffering goodness and wisdom will save the day.
In nowadays we refer to gothic mostly as a type of music. This begun when the first music stars of this kind wore old fashion clothes from the 13th-18th century. Also gothic music used music instruments such as the violin, the harp and similar, making a slow deep sound. Over the years the music became depressing and dark linking it to macabre objects and dark imaginary creatures such as vampires.
Fans tended to have an extreme lifestyle like their music idols. Later on the word was cut down and used as the word Goth. This change was for separating the music fans with old fashion outfits from the fans with the black dressing and make up like black long dresses with bell sleeves for the ladies and . As time passed the lyrics of the songs started to mention death and cruelty of life misleading many people to believe that this music was depressing and making people want to act miserable, which many did, but underneath the surface it was only mention death as a state of life with a romantic meaning and accepting it as something natural and something that can not be avoid. Romancing the Idea of Death.
